MEDICINAL CHICKEN BONE BROTH & VEGETABLE SOUP

Our take on the famous Chicken Soup - enjoy during a seasonal cleanse to assist digestion & support gut health, in bouts of sickness for a good immune boost or simply just because it's delicious and easy. 

TRIDOSHIC - RECIPE SERVES 6 - CAN BE MADE TO SUIT VEGETARIANS/VEGANS - DETOX FRIENDLY - LACTOSE FREE - GLUTEN FREE - YEAST FREE - GF

INGREDIENTS: 

- Nutra Organics Chicken Bone Broth Immune/gut Garden Herb Powder or organic liquid chicken/beef/veg broth enough to cover vegetables 

- Organic Grass-fed Ghee 1cup 

- 1tablespoon olive oil

 

- 2 medium brown onions roughly chopped

- 4 thick slices of Organic Ginger 

- 1 small bulb of garlic, roughly chopped or smooshed in a mortar and pestle 

- 1tsp celery seeds 

- 1tablespoon cumin seeds

- 1tsp chilli flakes or fresh chilli 

- 1/2tsp dried thyme leaves 

- Organic whole pepper corns 1/2tsp

- 4 small organic carrots roughly chopped

- 2 medium Dutch Cream Potatoes

- 4 Organic Celery stalks roughly chopped 

- 1-2tablespoons of organic Vegetable Boullion or organic vegetable stock 

- Celtic salt or Lemon Myrtle Salt by Byron Bush foods to taste

- 1 bunch of Coriander, stems chopped finely into soup, leaves for garnishing, or use parsley

- Half a lemon

- Organic Girolomoni Durum Wheat Semolina Pasta (optional for more hearty meal).

 

METHOD:

1. In heavy bottom pot OR in a slow cooker on a med/high heat heat half cup of ghee and add cumin seeds, celery seeds, peppercorns, chilli flakes until aromatic  then add in onions, ginger  cook until slightly browned

2. Next add a glug of olive oil (and more ghee if looks dry, you can never ever add too much ghee so go for gold) along with garlic and thyme, cook for 1min before adding in celery, carrot and potatoes and covering lid and turning down heat.

3. Add enough filtered spring water to cover vegetables plus slightly more and add Chicken bone broth powder & vegetable bouillon, or add liquid stock of choice 

4. Slow cook on low head until vegetables are tender then add in Coriander stems, any remaining ghee (or just add more) lemon & salt to taste.

5. Cook pasta al denté separately and add in at very end if desired.

6. Transfer to a crockpot/slow cooker (if you aren't already cooking this in one) and leave on keep warm setting to enjoy all day/night.

7. Add coriander leaves to garnish
